Resistance on ceramic barrels

Barrel resistance heaters are used for heating liquids. They are typically found in water heaters or in the heating of special baths. The heating resistors on barrels are placed in sleeves and can be replaced without emptying the tank (compliance with the Seveso Directives.

Maximum temperature of use of heating resistors on barrels: 900°C on resistive wire, maximum load 5.5 W/cm².

Technical description :

  • Coiled 80/20 nickel chrome wire;
  • Insulation by ceramic piece;
  • Diameter: 15.6, 20, 28.5, 31, 36, 38, 47, 52 and 57;
  • Length: from 100 to 3500 mm;
  • Power supply by threaded terminals mounted on terminal plate (diameter greater than that of the barrel);
  • Voltage: from 24 V to 440 V Single-phase or Three-phase;
  • Power: up to 15 KW;
    Support by central rod in stainless steel.

Possible variants:

  • Non-heating area (under the terminal board for example);
  • Built-in thermocouple type J or K;
  • Sealed sleeve to be brazed or welded on the tank;
  • Sheath on M77 (or 2-1/2ʺ gas) or M45 (1-1/2ʺ gas) cap to be screwed onto the tank, Threaded ring to be welded on request;
  • Sheath on standard or special flange;
  • Electrical box to protect the terminal board and the electrical connections;
  • Barrel without terminal plate, power supply by wires under sheath or under beads.

Assembly :

It is preferable to mount the barrels in a horizontal position.
It must be ensured that the active part of the resistance heater remains permanently below the level of the liquid.
